4 months post-op - My left breast feels too soft at the bottom (empty) and slightly high at the top. (Photos)

I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon as every surgeon has their own respective post op protocol for his/her patients.  Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you are healing at this time.

The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam.

It looks as though your implant is placed a little high in regards to your breast, therefore the lower part of the breast lacks volume a little. It might be necessary to have the surgeon reposition the implant which could involve revision surgery.

Thank you for your question.The photos are not very helpful in getting an idea of what is going on. If you feel the implants are that different from side to side then I would contact your surgeon to be evaluated.  A contracture would make the implant harder not softer.

Hello, it's difficult to assess a concern based on photos alone, but it appears that you have normal shape and symmetry.  If you are worried about the way your breasts feel you would need to have a proper physical examination by your surgeon so they can palpate the area of concern.

Similar to fillers like Restylane and Juvederm, the material or implant can be felt under the skin.  We hope that it also feels the way the patient likes and that it matches the other side of the body as well. Then there is the visual appearance of the breasts.  Sometimes the surgical dissection can be a little different from side to side or there is a difference between the tissues side to side which is common. The appearance of the breasts in the photo looks good. Sometimes you are actually feeling the implant if there is less breast tissue in that area compared to the other side. You are mostly “healed" but not yet and maybe that difference will change.

Dear Patient: as my other colleagues pointef out, you are still in the healing process.  Anywhere from 4 to 6 months you will continue to heal, the tissue to relax and let the implant drop to its final position.  You should have a follow up appointment with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and he will examin you and explain the post op care and healing process.  Hope this helps! Dear larangob,dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about your implants. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. When concerned, it's always a good idea to consult with you surgeon. At 4 months, you are about 80 percent settled."Drop and fluff" refers to the fact that as the skin stretches and the muscles relax, the implants move down and out slowly – about 1 percent a day. It’ll be about six weeks before they even begin to settle down, but they’ll be close to 80 percent settled at three months. Watching their progress is like watching your hair grow. You don’t see a difference in your hair growth daily, but all of a sudden you need a haircut.
