4 months post op and my nose looks uneven. Likely to change much now? (Photo)

In general, your nose looks very
good, and the asymmetry is mild. It is likely that the asymmetry is showing
more at 4 months than 1 month because the swelling has partially resolved, but
changes will continue to occur over a year. Minor asymmetries can often be
improved by fat transfer, but if they become more visible, sometimes revisions
are necessary. That being said, all patients have some asymmetry before
surgery, and minor asymmetries usually do not detract from attractiveness. I
would continue to follow up with your surgeon over the next several months to
see whether the asymmetry becomes more pronounced. Best wishes.

Thank you for your question.  I usually counsel my patients that we will not begin to look at a "final' result before 6 months post-operatively. It takes quite some time for all, residual swelling to subside from the nasal tissues.  Be sure to bring your concerns to your surgeon, but I would wait some time longer before deciding if the nose is truly asymmetric. I hope that this helps!-David Gilpin

At four months, you are still early in the recovery phase after a rhinoplasty and it takes up to a year for all the swelling to resolve and the nose to heal. However, I recommend you bring up your concerns to your physician. Best of luck to you.

Thank you very much for enquire.It's too early to make value judgments with four months after a rhinoplasty.Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity.To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Dear realselfrhino, You are still early in the recovery phase and have swelling that will dissipate over the coming months. At six to seven months post surgery you will be able to better determine your final result. Inverted V deformity is caused by an over resection of the upper lateral cartilages and can be addressed with revision surgery if needed. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
