Hello,Although you still have a lot of swelling, it is already clear that your surgeon simply reduced your tip cartilages in a way that will not really address their contribution to your tip appearance. Your tip cartilages were not only wide, they were curved and very stiff; 'taking a little off the top' wasn't going to help.  You need to see an ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeon that specialize in rhinoplasty, specifically open structural rhinoplasty, not just reductive rhinoplasty. You are still VERY early in the healing process- all that you are feeling is normal. It definitely takes a full year to see the final result, but you will notice more improvement in the next few weeks.Stay in close contact with your surgeon, closely follow your restrictions and be patient!

I know it can feel discouraging in the beginning, as a nose with thick nasal tip skin such as yours will be likely swollen for several weeks to months.  Keep in close contact with your surgeon and he or she will create a reasonable timeline of events to expect certain results.

You are still relatively fresh out of surgery at 2 weeks. The tip especially can look very swollen at this time. Be positive and give it some time and hopefully what you see is just swelling. FOllow up with your surgeon as planned. Good luck

Thank you for writing to RealSelf.It is very common for swelling in the tip tissues to persist for a longer period of time. You are in still in the very early stages of healing. Please be patient, massage the tip tissues if it is ok'd by your surgeon and continue your periodic check up visits to your surgeon.

Recovering from rhinoplasty is a healing process. Part of that process is waiting for swelling to go down to see your result. All noses swell and then shrink after rhinoplasty. 

In the first 6-8 weeks the majority of swelling will go down. Over the next 6-9 months you'll experience a downward trending rollercoaster of swelling going up and down depending on your exposure to heat, sun, or salt. At one year, you're close to your final result; however, the nose is known to continue healing and refining by very small amounts for years after that. You're extremely early in the healing process.

The swelling commonly goes down in an uneven way. First one side and then the other goes down, which may give the appearance of a crooked nose until the other side catches up. The tip is the last area to settle down. It's important to follow your surgeon's instructions and keep your follow-up appointments so your surgeon can track your progress toward a safe and happy outcome. Safety comes first. 

Please don't be discouraged! Your nasal tip IS smaller, though you don't see it. I realize it's not as small as you'd wish but don't be dismayed. Even a millimeter of swelling can keep a patient up all night that they'll need a revision but, as hard as it may be, try to hang in there and be patient. You will look better at 3 months (80% swelling gone) and 100% out by a year. Hope that helps!

It is totally understandable that at 15 days after the surgery you still have swelling and tenderness of the noseMy suggestion for you is to go back to your plastic surgeon and let him/her examine you and let you know what to expect.

Although it can take upto 1 year for your tip swelling to resolve; your nasal tip looks quite generous in size and I don't think that you will be happy with your tip contour; I would follow up with your surgeon.
