The recovery process is much easier than most people expect. My patients tell me that they were able to spend time and enjoy their evening at home the very first night after surgery. They felt some discomfort and pressure over the chest, but this was easily improved with medications. My patients are able to shower the first day after surgery. They felt tired and required rest for the first two days. Most people tell me they wake up on the third day with much more energy, less pain and are able to participate in much more activity. Many patients go out to eat, meet up with friends or go shopping by the third day. You will have more energy and less discomfort as each day goes by. Most patients are off all medications by the fourth or fifth day. Many patients return to work, school and driving by the fifth day. It is not recommended that patients do any heavy lifting or chest exercises for the first 4 weeks, but the recovery rapidly improves each day. Everyone is different, so recovery times can vary.
Thank you for your question. Please speak to your plastic surgeon for specific post op instructions.
Hi Thank you for your question. Usually we recommend to not excercise at least 6 weeks after a breast augmentation surgery. For extreme sports or actual chest excercises we recommend to wait at least 3 months. However it is important to follow the postoperative instructions of your surgeon. He is the one who is familiar with your case and can give more accurate information. All the bestDr Marco Carmona MD
Hi Trishyishy8,Thank you for your question! I typically have patients hold off on strenuous activity (heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling) for 6 weeks after your procedure. I always recommend following up with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area.Best of luck!
Hi good afternoon doll (:You will need to wait atleast 3 months to do regular gym but you can do some cardio for now .hope you feel better and have a great day .thank you.
Dear Trishyishy, Every surgeon is different. They know exactly how the surgery was done, and they are the best one to instruct you as to what's best in your very individual procedure.
Thanks for sharing your question. I can appreciate your concern. If the implant is placed below the muscle, my recommendation and the implant company recommendation is to not do these activities for the rest of your life. The implants will displace to a lateral pocket and you may increase the risk of capsular contracture. When doing any exercise, look at your breast. If the implant moves to the side, DO NOT do it or modify it.Finally, make sure that your doctor is aware of your process. He should be able to guide you best in your care.Wishing you the best in your journey
Thank you for the question. Long-term patients who undergo breast augmentation surgery should be able to return to all activities with full strength. Timing to return to specific types of exercise will vary from one patient to another. Best to check with your plastic surgeon for specific advice. Generally, I suggest patients gradually ease back into the strenuous aerobic exercise 4 to 6 weeks postoperatively, assuming that they are doing well and there have been no complications. Lower body exercise can generally be resumed 2 weeks postoperatively. Use common sense, listen to your body, and gradually resume previous activity. In my practice, I ask patients to avoid contact and strenuous exercise involving the pectoralis major muscles ( such as push-ups, bench press, burpees, dancing on a pole…) for at least 3-6 months. Best wishes.
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. I typically have patients wait at least 3 weeks before starting any strenuous physical activity. Of course, you will need an in-person consultation to evaluate you for this procedure. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. I suggest that you find a board-certified plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of patients who have had similar procedures. Good luck!Best, Jon Ver Halen, MD FACS Harvard educated plastic surgeon Texas “Top Doc”
Hello. Thank you for your inquiry. You are an excellent candidate for breast augmentation. It is important to have an in-person medical assessment regarding this issue as it is difficult to determine virtually. There are many different factors that go into choosing a breast implant size...
Hi and thanks for your question. Of course it is always difficult to predict bra size based on cc's. However, going from an A cup and adding 350-400 would put you in the range of a C/D cup. The most common size problem I see is that when women realize their breasts look natural, they wish they...
Thank you for your question. I would not recommend tanning beds ever due to health and safety reasons. However, if a patient likes to use them, I would not recommend going into a tanning bed any sooner than 6 months post operatively. After any surgery, your skin is more susceptible to...
