Upper blepharoplasty recovery is usually very short, with sutures removed in 4-6 days and return to full activity at 3 weeks. If the patient is very compliant with the icing of the eyelids, there is usually minimal bruising. I use 1 continuous suture which runs beneath the skin of each eyelid, and is removed easily on day 4-6. This gives an excellent cosmetic result to the incision line as there are no external sutures to remove.
The biggest recovery issue after blepharoplasty is bruising around the eye. This typically resolves within 5-10 days following surgery but can be camouflaged as early as a few days following surgery. Ice and elevation of your head while sleeping can reduce the risk and reduce the severity of bruising but the possibility can't be totally eliminated. Most people return to work within 7-10 days following surgery. I hope this information is helpful.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon
It all depends on exactly the type of upper lid surgery you will have, but generally, most of the swelling resolves within two weeks. The procedure can often be done in the office as a minor procedure. Sutures are usually taken out in 5-6 days. For more information, you should seek a consultation with a surgeon who specializes in eyelid surgery.
As you can see, everyone has their own protocols. In my practice, sutures come out on post-op day 4 and then you're asked to be gentle with your incisions for 2 more weeks then you can resume activities as desired. You could have bruising that will take 1-2 weeks to resolve as well.
Visible swelling and bruising takes up to 2 weeks to resolve after the upper lid Blepharoplasty has been performed. In our office, we use dissolvable stitches which disappear at approximately one week. Once the sutures have dissolved, make up can be applied over the bruising and swelling and patients are able to get back into their social and work environment. There is usually minimal pain with upper eyelid lift. For many examples of eyelid surgery, please see the link below
An upper eyelid lift surgery can take about 1-2 weeks to recover from. Sutures come out within a week and bruising will last about 1-2 weeks.
Hi JanooTypically 2 weeks following upper eyelid surgery or upper eyelid blepharoplasty or eyelift. The bruising following upper eyelid surgery takes a week to settle and the swelling take two weeks. Its more if you have lower eyelid surgery or blepharoplastyAll the best
As surgical procedures go, an upper eye lift (blepharoplasty) is one of the easiest and quickest recoveries. The pain is usually manageable without narcotics, the stitches will be out in less than a week, and it doesn't usually cause any temporary eye issues (blurriness, dry or watery eyes, etc) like lower blepharoplasty often does. The incision line also tends to heal quickly, and is easily concealed with makeup if necessary.
If done as an isolated procedure, an upper eyelid blepharoplasty can be done under local anesthesia in an office OR. Most of the swelling is gone by 1 week. However, some small degree of minimally noticeable swelling can persist for about 3 months.
In my practice stitches are left in for a week. Usually, I prefer to use stitches that can be removed and are not dissolving. Once those stitches come out, you can use cover up after 24-48 hours over the stitch line, if necessary.I typically tell my patients to allow 10 days- 2 weeks for bruising. I find that it just depends- some people have almost no bruising, and some have quite a bit. Usually you know how your body bruises, and that is the factor the determines how much bruising you will have. But the 'average' is not much bruising.Swelling is most visible in the first few days, and is largely gone within a week. It is most commonly fairly minor.I hope this has been helpful for you.
