Thanks for the question! Nonsurgical rhinoplasty (filler in the nose) can be a great alternative to traditional surgical rhinoplasty for many patients. The best candidates tend to be those with a low bridge and underprojecting and/or droopy tip. Patients with a small hump and a low starting point are also good candidates. Filler can be used to make the nose straighter as well. Sometimes it gives the patient an opportunity to see what their nose may look like after surgery. Filler can also be used after surgery for minor modifications. The key is to select the right patients as some may not be a candidate for filler. Also it is very important to understand the anatomy of the nose, particularly the blood vessels, in order to inject safely and effectively. Restylane Lyft is the preferred filler for nonsurgical rhinoplasty in my practice. The results should last at least a year, and I have often seen 2-3 years or longer in some patients. The benefit of using a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler like Lyft is that it can be reversed in the event of any compromise of the blood supply. I also really like the predictability of this filler, as the way it looks when finished injecting is the way it looks for a long time afterward. Bellafill could also be a long lasting option, though one must carefully consider the risks and benefits. If it’s your first time, definitely go with a HA. The nose is considered an advanced area so be sure to have nonsurgical rhinoplasty done with an experienced injector. It may be wise to have a rhinoplasty specialist do the injections, because then you can also find out if you are a candidate for surgery. Computer morphing can help show the difference.
