Is it normal for one breast to heal a lot quicker than another after breast lift?

I had an explant and lift almost two months ago. My left breast is healing so much quicker than my right. Is this normal? My right breast was the one that had the ruptured implant for a couple of months before explant. Can that have any relation to this? Just curious....thanks

Yes, it's totally normal for breast to heal at different rates.  In fact, they can take several months each to fully settle after surgery.

Hello, to answer your question I'd say yes, the two breasts could healing differently, it's pretty common to see that. As far as the right one being the one with the rupture, i don't think it's a reason for it to be healing slower. Best wishes

Yes.  Although we think of breasts as one unit they are actually two, with their own blood supply and healing capabilities.  It is not uncommon for one side to heal faster than the other and may be related to the patient’s own tissues and healing mechanisms and also how the surgery was performed.  After a few months, however, the two breasts should start appearing symmetrical.

Thanks for your question.The easiest answer is yes....the breasts can heal at different rates.  I would assume that the right breast had a bit more in depth surgery performed on it due to the rupture whcih wopuld certainly cause it to heal at a slower rate. Even if identical procedures occur to breasts there is often a difference in how they heal.  It is not uncommon for patients to describe one breast being more painful, more swollen even when objectively all looks well and the procedures conducted very similar.  Breast surgery essentially has a left and a right side..two separate procedures and they can heal at differing rates.  Good news is the tincture of time tends to settle most things. I would anticipate that the further out you get from your surgical date ..the less the difference.  If thats not the case - check in with your plastic surgeon.

The short answer is yes and in your case for a reason.Essentially the right breast underwent more extensive intervention than the left in virtue of the presence of the ruptured implant.Most likely the surgeon had a more clean up and debridement to do .If you still have concerns it behooves you to contact your plastic surgeon.
