How long should chest pain last after TT?

Question

Just started with chest pains last Thursday after 5 weeks post op. Went to ER yesterday, EKG, blood work, Chest X-Ray, CAT scan all came back fine. Taking Advil. Seeing PS in two days.

Hi minnickville and thank you for your question.  Chest pain is not a common occurrence and is likely unrelated to your abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, procedure.  I understand that you were cleared by the ER but I would encourage you to follow up with your board certified plastic surgeon and your primary care physician as soon as possible for evaluations.

Chest pain should not occur as a result of a tummy tuck.  You did the right thing by going to the ER to be assessed.  Your surgeon can review your symptoms and recovery details with you to determine if there is cause for concern.

Unusual to have chest pains at 5 weeks postop a tummy tuck. At this point it is unlikely to be related to the tummy tuck.

Minnickville,Chest pain is very unusual after a tummy tuck, especially 5 weeks later.  I'm glad you went to the ER for a work up, but I would also see your primary doctor to make sure the work up was complete (pulmonary embolus, GERD-reflux and several other conditions come to mind).Notify your surgeon as well.  They should be integrated into your continued work up.Dr T

Chest pain is not "normal" after  tummy tuck surgery.  I am glad to hear that you did seek help in the emergency room but wonder if additional workup is necessary; potentially life-threatening problems may have been ruled out in the emergency room but other causes of chest pain (for example  esophageal reflux...) should be evaluate as well.    A visit with your primary care or internist may also be helpful. Best wishes.
