I️ had a Fleur de Lis TT 2 weeks ago. Drains were removed one week after why is Pain WORSE?

What you are describing sounds like nerve pain, but it is somewhat unusual to have this much discomfort after drain removal.  Most patients feel better once the drain is removed and start to increase their activity.  With this activity increase, some fluid can build up which is called a seroma.However it does not really sound like that is what is going on.  I would recommend you follow up with your plastic surgeon to assess the situation with a proper physical exam.Hope that helps.

Hello,I'm sorry to hear about the pain you are experiencing. Unfortunately this can be related to nerve damage and if so, will simply require time to resolve. You will need to be examined in person to rule out other problems and make sure that you are healing well. I recommend that you follow up closely with your plastic surgeon.All the best 

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your worsening pain.  Unfortunately this is not the norm and for this change in your recovery I strongly suggest you return to your surgeon for an in-person evaluation  Only with examining the tissues can an appropriate cause be identified and treatment rendered.  Best wishes. 

I️ appreciate your concern, but it is still quite early in your recovery journey.  The drain sites can stay sore for days after drain removal.  Try too stay patient and followup with your plastic surgeon. Good luck!

Dear SchwartzDOLL;it is hard to tell without an examination. You should+n't feel any major pain or discomfort 2 weeks after the surgery.  I would suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon. Sorry to hear you are having pain after your tummy tuck drains were removed by your surgeon. As others have stated, nerve pain (neuropathic pain) could be part of what is going on. Sometimes there is temporary inflammation irritating a nerve and causing pain out of proportion to physical findings. In many cases, this "cools down" over time but you should have your surgeon check your incision to make sure you don't have an infected suture, seroma, or other issue.

If your pain is getting worse, then it sounds like you should be seen in person to make sure that everything is ok.

Without an examination it is impossible to determine the true cause of your considerable pain at the drain site. Typically, the only discomfort experienced is at the time of the drain removal but that is only very brief. Given your symptoms, you should contact your plastic surgeon who can then examine you and determine if there is any issue to be concerned about (which is very unlikely).Steven Turkeltaub, MD
