Had a tummy tuck and am 6 days post op. Is this necrosis and if so will I absolutely need minor revision surgery? (photo)

Question

If it drys up and comes off, will new skin come with no scar? Should I try hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help it heal? Am I worrying for nothing? Doctor is great and have follow up to see how it's healing in a few days... but just need peace of mind in the meantime.

dear patient: its really hard to tell whats going on from the photo you sent! You should go see your PS if you feel its not normal! Did you have a drain?

By the photo it does appear that you have a small area that has poor blood flow.  It does look like it may go onto skin necrosis.  It will take a week or two before it demarcates and declares it self to how much of the area will be involved.At this point you and your plastic surgeon are doing the right thing with close follow ups.  The area may heal on its own and may not require any kind of revision, but it may.  At this point just have to wait it out and see how things heal up eventually.  It does look like the area is small enough that it may just heal in on its own.Hope that helps.

from your photograph, it seems you have a very small area of poor healing. This may not even be a good estimation of your situation. It is not uncommon to have these areas of poor blood flow which may go on to heal uneventfully, or break down a bit, and usually heal up well on their own. Before you worry too much, perhaps you can see your plastic surgeon a bit sooner so they may give you their opinion of what you may expect.

It is difficult to tell from your photos. it looks very minor if that is what you even have, Ask your surgeon about it and he will most likely make you feel much better about it.
