Swelling either side of nose: I do feel it has got worse. (Photos)

Question

In some light and especially in photos you can see that either side of my nose looks swollen? I've always had it but I do feel it has got worse.You can't see it when I smile and I've noticed that if I gently pull the skin away from the nose slightly it goes but as soon as I let go its back. Also when I do this I feel like my airway is a lot clearer. Overall I like the shape and profile of it, its just this part that makes it look strange. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The swollen appearance on either sides of your nose are due to broad bony vault . This can be corrected by lateral osteotomy. Also, if you have difficulty breathing which is relieved by pulling at the skin on either sides, you will benefit from spreader graft placement. Do consult a plastic surgeon for more detailed analysis.

Unless your rhinoplasty procedure was done within the last couple months you will need a revision to reposition the nasal bones which are wide at the junction with your cheek bones. Osteotomies can be done to decrease the undesirable contour.

Thank you for your question.  If you are soon after your rhinoplasty the swellings on either side of the nose and be swelling that has occurred around the areas where the nasal bones were cut to allow the nose to be narrowed.  If your surgery has been recent massage of these areas may help reduce the swelling.  However it is important that she check with her plastic surgeon to ask if this treatment has your surgeon's approval.
