Thank you for the great question.  Having been trained in ENT and facial plastic surgery, I almost always use grafts to make the nose function better as well as look more pleasing during rhinoplasty. The preferable material for grafts are from the patient'a own septum....

The swelling can sometimes get worst later in the healing phase. Make sure to avoid vigorous exercise, too much salt or sun exposure. Give it at least 3 months before intervening. For now if your surgeon feels that right side is more swollen in the middle third of the nose then a steroid...

You should listen to your surgeon's advice as that's who knows your nose best. It is normally fine to touch your nose after surgery, in my experience.
