What is the right shape chin implant for my feminine face? (Photo)

Question

I would like to add projection to my recessed chin but otherwise I like my feminine face and do not wish to add additional width or height to my face. I am worried that the Mittelman Pre Jowl Chin will make my face boxy while the extended Anatomical Chin might not give me enough projection as it is not as deep. Will the Anatomical Chin implant make my face look pointy? Please advise on which implant will give me what I am looking for.

There are several different chin implant shapes available, and ech come in multiple sizes. Anatomical shaped implants usually look more natural. Using a 3 D imaging software such as Vectra is the best way for patients to see which shape best fits the desired look. Discuss the different shapes of implants with your surgeon to see which one fits your expectation.

Based on my 35 years experience with chin augmentation I am convinced that, specially in young patients like you, a sliding osteotomy is superior since it does not change the shape of the chin unless it is necessary and only moves it forward, it improves the neck on every patient and there is very minimal foreign material. There is also more versatility to the osteotomy. You may consider getting a second opinion from someone who does chin surgery both ways routinely to make an educated decision.

The key to most female chin augmentation is to provide horizontal projection but not width. This is to keep the chin more of a triangular shape and not square. Of the selections shown, the anatomical implant is often best for women as it adds central horizontal projection but not extended wings that can create a wider chin as well.

The size, thickness and shape of the implant is determined at the time of the consultation and examination.  The Augmentation occurs in all 3 dimensions.  There is very little difference between the 2 chin implants  you are looking at. The size of the implant matters much more than the shape. Hi, I have performed many chin augmentations using chin implants for almost 30 years.  The EAC is a superior shape and style chin implant IMHO.  I do not like to conform version however.  I would choose an EAC-M.  Be sure it's placed through an incision under the cin and not from insoide of the mouth.   Hope this helps.
