Jaw Implants vs Filler?

Question

I have a long and narrow face and would like to add width to the lower third of my face. I am trying to decide between jaw implants and jaw fillers. I understand that you have to replace filler every few years. What I have had trouble find though, is can you get the same definition and added volume? Thanks!

The jawline is a common concern among patients.  It's importance is not 
only noticed when someone has a weak jawline, but can also exaggerate 
the size of the nose by not harmonizing a strong midface and nose.  The
 most rapidly growing surgical procedure is chin augmentation for the 
reasons discussed above.  A strong chin can exude confidence and 
beauty.  The jawline angle must also be well structured to harmonize the
 face and drape the neck skin well. The options include fillers 
and implants.  Fillers are temporary and are a good option to get a 
general idea of how an implant may address your concerns.  Fillers are 
injected into the angle of the jawline to the chin region.  It adds 
fullness to the area, and less structure as an implant would.  The chin 
region unfortunately does not allow for augmentation with fillers.  Unfortunately, fillers do not add structure and are a quick fix.  TOn
 the other hand, implants are permanent (However can be removed easily) 
and allows for proper structure.  For chin implants alone, I recommend 
prefabricated, or stock, implants. For the angle of the jaw, I recommend
 custom implants that fit exactly to the contours of the jawline for 
improved fit and you are able to customize them to your desire.I recommend you seeking out a board certified surgeon to discuss your goals and options.

To create a stronger and wider lower face, the use of injectable fillers would be an ill-advised treatment choice. Besides their temporary effect and the large volumes needed, they will not remotely create a skeletal looking effect which is what implants do.
