I am considering having two threads placed on each side of my cheek bone to pull back up the fat pads which have slipped after several rounds of hyalse. I have also been advised that I would be a good candidate for Ultherapy as this would help strengthen my skin which is quite thin. I am 49. Please advise me which would be most effective? I am not quite ready for a face lift.
Answer: Facial Aging and Lasers, Peels, Fillers, Skin Care, Fat Injections/Sculptra, RF skin tightening There is a lot you can do for facial aging with fillers, lasers, skin tightening, surgery and fat. I suggest you see an expert to discuss various options as a combination approach is best. Threads may work better with the ultherapy. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Threads verse Ultherapy Ulthera® laser or Ultherapy® is the current gold standard treatment for non surgical lifting of the skin/fat/muscle (all soft tissue) of the face (especially the cheeks) and neck.

Answer: Ultherapy versus thread lift Hard to give you the best answer without looking at your photos. In essence, what you can expect from Ultherapy treatment is some lift of the skin and soft tissues, which will probably be more conservative in results than thread lift but longer lasting. You may also see the improvement in skin quality after Ultherapy. Plus Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure while threading is minimally invasive and leaves foreign body under the skin. In essence, if you want more drastic and quicker results- threading is the option. If you want longer lasting results, improvement in skin quality, and non-invasive procedure- go with Ultherapy.

Answer: Threads vs. Ultherapy I understand your dilemma. It is hard to answer which one is better without an exam or photos. Threads are making a comeback after previously being taken off the market. They had a lot of problems and the new ones are suppose to be better. My take on threads whether they are the new or old ones is that they can make the face look better but odd if one animates the face. Also, the improvement did not last long. I have seen some initial results presented at a recent meeting with the threads and I was not impressed. Ultherapy has been around for awhile and we have seen good results. So, if you are not ready for a facelift then consider Ultherapy. Ultimately, see a board certified plastic surgeon who has experience in facial rejuvenation and Ultherapy so that you can get the best advice.

Answer: Nonsurgical facelift options if you want to lift and tighten the cheek area and face overall, AND get some skin improvement/thickening, Ultherapy is the perfect choice. Threads can be nice but the problem is that their effects don't tend to last. I'm probably a little biased since we have Ultherapy in the office, but I also just feel it gives a nice natural subtle lift, whereas threads can look fake and they generally only pull in one direction
