I'm booked in to have breast implants, over the muscle with no lift in 2 weeks. I've recently started to have heart palpitations on and off. I've been to see my Doctor and she says it probably been due to my lifestyle change of a stressful job and also I've recently started to have my period again due to my contraceptive implant coming to an end. My doctor has booked me in for an ECG but it's not for another 2 months and my surgery is in 2 weeks. Do you think this will be a problem?

Answer: Heart palpitations before breast implant surgery It is safest to have your medical doctor perform the ECG before surgery. In addition, they should provide your plastic surgeon with a letter saying that you are in good shape medically to safely undergo breast augmentation and anesthesia. This is called a letter of medical clearance.

Answer: Heart Palpatations and BA Thank you for your question. My advice is to request that your primary care physician communicate with your plastic surgeon regarding his/her concerns regarding your scheduled ECG and your upcoming surgery. Best of luck.

Answer: Elective surgery Thanks for your inquiry, see if your plastic surgeon can discuss your situation with your medical doctor. I routinely will discuss any medical concerns I have about my perspective patients with their primary care physician. This gives both the patient and me the piece of mind that everything was considered before proceeding with elective surgery. Good Luck.
