Is it normal to lose hair with scabs?

As my scabs fall and wash off there seems to be a lot of hair going with it. Is this normal? It’s just quite worrying to see the hairs go! Thank you

It is normal to lose hair after a FUE surgery. However, for to answer this question properly, we have to know the exact time that passed after the surgery.Generally, after the surgery, shedding of hair is normal because those are the residual hair after the transplantation. It will probably continue for 5 weeks. But if there is a shedding in the first 7 days, i advice you to consult to your surgeon.

Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is not surprising to lost approx.  %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing  or touching the head. İt is shock loss and not permanent. Even your native hair may affected with that post traumatic transient hair loss…New hair at transplant and donor area starts to grow at 3-4 th month after surgery .

If the hair is coming out soon after your surgery then you may be losing some of the follicular tissue that was grafted and you might have some poor growth in that area.   After a week or two it is always expected for the scabs to dislodge.  In many weeks you may still have some release of the hair from the follicle but this generally grows back over the next few months.

It is normal to lose hair after hair transplant and can be present in the scabs. The hair at both ends will be flat with no tissue at either end. Generally, lose all transplanted hair 2-4 weeks after hair transplant as transplanted follicles enter a resting phase.

Its completely normal for you to see some hair while you wash off scabs. In the first three months after the surgery while the roots are set, the implanted hair tend to shed. Growth begins from Ideally third-fourth month and continues upto one whole year.

This is a process that will go on for up to 5 weeks as you shed the old grafts that were placed into your head and then everything will look the same as it was before your surgery. In 5-7 months, new hair will start to grow from where these grafts were put in.
