In general, an average caucasian male has about 8,000 grafts that can be harvested over their lifetime. (some more... some less)
It really does depend on several factors but assuming they have great donor density and fabulous elasticity of the scalp and heal wonderfully - its possible to get between 2 or 3 FUT Transplants performed, again subject to size of the Strip. As a guide, if a patient wanted a large area covered for example - the primary surgery would be the larger strip and any following may be slightly lower in graft numbers based on the previous surgery. It is all subject to a face to face consultation with a qualified hair surgeon, and the true number of the 2nd or even 3rd procedure can only truly be determined 12 months after the previous surgery.
This all depends on the individual patient. There is no general answer for everyone.A great first step would be an online consultation. Often you can submit photos to top hair restoration surgeons for a complimentary evaluation. This should help lead you in the right direction. Having multiple consultations with different doctors cannot hurt.
The donor hair potential in FUT varies significantly between patients, depending on scalp dimensions, skin laxity and donor density. The number of sessions can not be determined, because a smaller or larger strip may be chosen in each session. Assuming a close to maximum strip is removed each time, one may be able to get 2-3 strips before there isn't much to be taken from the same incision line. Some surgeons will take strips from separate incisions, but this causes significant donor damage and perhaps is a bit too aggressive, given the possibility of FUE after the skin laxity is all used.
I have done a few dozen patients who had strip surgeries with more than 10,000 grafts in men with high donor densities and extreme balding
Swelling is common post op hair transplant. You can apply an ice pack to the area to help alleviate the swelling but otherwise the body will reaborb the fluid on its own.
J hairs reflect a placing problem at the time the grafts were placed into the recipient area. I think that if these hairs grow, they may not grow normally,
There is no "normal" hairline. Everyone has a unique hairline and some even have cowlicks. If you feel you are losing hair, see a doctor for an examination.
