Does full abdominal liposuction include love handles and waist?

Liposuction of the flanks and waist is not included in full abdominal liposuction. Upper and lower front of your belly is considered full abdominal liposuction.

In order to leave the most pleasing contour most patients that desire abdominal liposuction will also have their love handles and waist suctioned.  From a cost point of view, you would have to specify the areas you would like to see fat removed from as it will determine the amount of time needed in the operating room.  

Liposuction of the flank or love handle area commonly is done with the abdomen. Designating an area for liposuction is primarily for the purposes of establishing a price.

Liposuction pricing is generally done by treatment areas (and time estimated to perform the procedure).  In most practices in my area, the hips/waist/flank is considered a separate treatment area from the abdomen.  Discuss with your surgeon.  A formal quote should be provided prior to your operation.

There is no definite rule on what areas are included in "full abdominal liposuction". Each plastic surgeon may have his own idea of what is included in a full abdominal liposuction procedure. It's best to ask your plastic surgeon to show you specifically what areas he addresses with abdominal liposuction, or to even mark the area on you with a surgical marking pen.Good luck!

Typically patients wanting the abdomen done usually will do the love handles too, But some doctors do charge this as an additional area known as the flanks. 

It depends upon your surgeon.  There are surgeons that charge by the area and have very discrete areas but some have package pricing for a combination of upper abdomen , lower abdomen, flanks, etc.  This is the reason you need to discuss these items with your surgeon prior to your operation.  Please see a board certified plastic surgeon for evauation of yoru specific areas and to discuss his fee schedule and your options.

 I treat these areas along with the abdominal liposuction.   Some patients with very large love handles need a turnover and approach from posterior incisions.   Ask your doctor what is in the plans and cost for the total procedure.    My Best,  Dr Commons
