Because of the extreme dependent position of the ankles and calves as well as the anatomy of lymphatic drainage aggressive management is critical. In properly managed can lead to chronic swelling and subsequent fibrosis. Limb elevation and rigorous use of compressive garments are essential. By four months this swelling should be substantially controlled.

It can be frustrating to wait for the final result after liposuction especially in the ankle area.  The lower you go on the body the longer it takes for swelling to dissipate. I tell my patients that for ankles your final result will take at least 7-9 months.  In the meantime try to use compression socks to help with swelling and be be patient time will help good luck
