Are my implants too close together? Symmastia? (photos)

Question

I am slightly worried that my breast are too close together. My skin chest is a bit lifted. My PS said it is not symmastia but ofcourse I have to be sure and ask another opinion. I can't go to him personally because he is on the other side of the world. I asked for two fingers apart cleavage he said he can do it but I ended up in 1 finger apart. Will the lifted skin chest go calm eventually? Previous BA was a disaster. Apart from it was ruptured PIP implant it was also tuberous. 5 1/2 weeks ago I had a revision. From 315cc to 500cc . My old BA was two fingers apart and I feel like my new breast is too close and my chest is slightly lifted.

From looking at your pictures you dont have symmastia.  What you have are large implants that cant go anywhere but closer together, along with some skin tenting that will resolve over time.

It is difficult to tell from the pictures, and unfortunately you are not able to consult with your surgeon. Increasing implant size means larger diameter implants, and there is the risk that if the diameter is too large, the implants can contribute to the risk of symmastia. That is one reason why using implants of a smaller diameter is often part of the treatment.

You have slightly laterally deviated nipples and areolas which gives the impression that the breasts are too close to the midline but I think you're doing well. If you are still concerned, I might consider wearing a thong bra. The bra is designed to put pressure on your sternal area. You can google Thong Bra and get in contact with the nice lady who makes them in her home.

You currently do not have symmastia but you most likely have "tenting" of the breast tissue especially when you push them close.  Some amount of this slight imperfection must be tolerated especially if you like your current size. Without being able to examine you and review your old photos and operative reports it can be difficult to make the diagnosis from photos alone. Having mild symmastia is not necessarily a problem unless it is uncomfortable or becomes unattractive. Natural larger breasts also can have an appearance of symmastia when pressed together, and many patients with a significant gap between the breasts would love to have them sitting a little closer together.It might be wise to get a copy of your records and visit with a reputable board certified plastic surgeon near your home for an examination and advise. In the meantime expect that you will continue to change some as you heal, and if you have smooth implants they may continue to drop and move laterally. You could also email or call your surgeon's office for advice based on your concerns. Ask if you should avoid massaging medially if you were advised to be performing massage. Textured implants are generally not massaged. You might also consider wearing a stretchy T backed sports bra backwards with the T helping to hold the implants apart. This can also be padded with a soft folded cloth, and is useful when sleeping. It might also be wise to avoid push up bras, choosing one with a higher medial underwire that might help to separate the breasts.Your photos look very nice right now. Best of luck to you!

important to remember that a board certified plastic surgeon will be your best
resource when it comes to an accurate assessment of your situation, and
concerns.

Having said that, your pictures do confirm symmastia.  It is
correctable and it will depend on how much it bothers you on if you fix it or
now. If it looks 'weird' you may want to consider have it corrected.

As others are stating, you do not have true symmastia based on those pictured but instead have skin tenting. That can be a result of still having some residual swelling from your revision surgery. I would allow at least 3 months to ellapse and then reevaluate at that point.

Thank you for the question and pictures. Your photographs do not demonstrate symmastia; you are probably experiencing skin tenting. Hi Redbuuterfly83,I can see you have been through a lot leading up to now.  I do not feel you have a synmastia as there is a clear delineation point between the middle portion of each breast.  Yes they are close together; however, many women wish for this look.  You are still very early (6 weeks) from your surgery, and I believe the swelling will resolve and you may have a 2 finger breadth separation between your breasts.  Hang in there - you will likely be very happy!
