Is it safe to get a hair transplant with a rapid heartbeat?

My heart is naturally structured in a way that makes it to beat fast. I have consulted heart specialist and he told me that there was nothing to worry about and suggested me propranolol. Now I am going for a FUE transplant. I would like to know if a fast heart beat has any impact on hair transplant surgery?

You need to let your physician know about your prescription for propranolol. It is one of the few medications that can interfere with the transplant, as it can react with the epinephrine that is used in the numbing medication. The transplant can usually still be performed, but without the use of epinephrine.

I recommend you go see your personal Doctor and make it aware to him that you are thinking of possibly doing a hair transplant where they use injectable lidocaine with or without epinephrine, and have him write you a clearance letter of his recommendations just so the two Doctors can be on the same page.  It never hurts to be safe.

It depends on how rapid your heart rate is. I suggest that you meet with the hair surgeon at least one week prior to surgery and map out a plan so that you can have a safe and relaxed experience. Remember to avoid aspirin and other NSAIDs for a minimum of 10 days prior to surgery.

Great question. Hair transplantation is an elective surgery, so, in my opinion, your surgeon should request a medical clearance and recommendations of your cardiologist about your heart issue. Yes, Propanolol (Beta-Blocker) may impact your surgery case and your hair surgeon should know that you are taking the medication. We (the hair surgeons) need to be aware about drug interaction between the Propanolol and Epinephrine. Good luck.

Fast heart beat has no any impact on hair transplant surgery. You  may feel some palpitation during local anesthesia but it is reversible. There was nothing to worry about that case.

Hi, sinus tachycardia is a common condition among healthy people. You have two choices to prevent symptoms from rapid heartbeats, number 1: ask surgeon to use local anesthetic without epinephrine. You may be excited by process of FUE itself and this may trigger an increased heart beat which you have control of. number 2: You can use medication. I would prefer calcium channel blockers, they will relax and improve blood supply. Metoprolol blocks receptors in majority of vessels.
