2ml dermal fillers in my lips 12 hrs ago. I have major swelling on lips and brushing only around my lips. Is this normal?(photo)

However, swelling and bruising after fillers is perfectly normal. How long this takes to resolve varies on patients. However, allow at least 2 weeks for this to settle down. However if you have concerns then it may be worth calling your surgeon and talking to him, he should be able to reassure you.All the best with looking great!

Lips can swell rapidly after fillers.  Icing, antihistamines and ibuprofen can help.  Please see an expert if you are concerned, it may take 2-3 weeks to resolve.  Arnima helps too. Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question. Having 2 syringes of filler is a large amount for lip augmentation. Typically it is not advisable to inject more than 1ml at a time to prevent overcorrecting. However, it is common to have some swelling after lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid fillers which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. You can apply cold compresses to the treated area to help reduce swelling. It is also advisable to avoid any NSAID’s as they tend to thin the blood and increase bruising and swelling. This is pretty common. It does not look worrisome. Sleep on a few pillows to help with the swelling. VBeam or Excel V laser can help with the bruising as can arnica. In some cases, steroids can help the swelling if needed. Blunt cannulas decrease bruising significantly.

Hello Lmehcu,It is very common to have swelling after lip injections.  This is especially true if you had 2 ml injected.  The swelling tends to increase for the first 48 hours.  There are treatments to help improve the swelling faster.  For those I would recommend you contact your injector so you can see which ones he or she prefers.  As far as the bruising goes that just takes time to get better.  I hope this helps and good luck.
