Would this be considered revision rhinoplasty? (Photo)

Question

I've had my rhino 5 years ago and was left with a bit of cartilage showing outside my right nostril, which I'd like to fix. I know revisions are usually priced over £12K but would this be considered at a level of a revision? How much could it cost?

You're very astute to correctly identify the protrusion as cartilage and not scar tissue, and while it seems like a minor procedure to eliminate this visible cartilage, it maybe not be as quite straightforward as you imagine. Most rhinoplasty surgeons are perfectionists, and would like the opportunity to make the best nose possible for you, so my first recommendation would be to follow up with your original surgeon. If he/she does not feel improvement is possible, then an in-person consultation will be the most accurate way to determine an appropriate surgical plan. If this is the absolute only thing that bothers you about your nose, and you are not looking to change any other aspect of its appearance, then a revision rhinoplasty surgeon would be able to detail all the risks involved in repositioning vs. resecting the medial crus that is causing the fullness.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, that is likely cartilage in your nostril. If that is truly the only thing that you want to change, that could likely be done under local anesthesia. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

Hi and thank you for your question. From the photo, the appearance could be due to skin scarring or cartilage. It is very difficult to be certain on the photo alone and you would need to see a specialist to be able to decide which it is. Either way, a revision may be an option for you, and I would be surprised if the costs come anywhere near the level you have quoted as the revision procedure you would need is likely to be more limited in extent than for a typical revision rhinoplasty. The only exception to this might be if the cartilage has slipped, in which case a tipplasty might be needed, however even if this were the case I would not expect the costs to reach such a level.
