If your ears stick out too much, then so do mine! LolProminent ears are typically where there is some combination of a lack of the antihelical fold ( the main banana shaped fold running down the center) and a prominence of the concha (the shell of the ear surrounding the entrance of the ear canal. Patient's typically have a history of being teased as a child and develop ways of hiding the ears with long hair or hats or headbands to hold the ears against the head. It's my opinion that you do not have prominent ears. I would probably try to talk you out of having an otoplasty if you came to me in consultation. Any surgery comes with risks and so there needs to be enough of a potential benefit to outweigh the risks. Take a look at my before and after pictures in the web reference link to see what prominent ears typically look like. All my best.
Hello and thank you for your question. Thebest advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Based onyour photographs, you may be a candidate for an otoplasty. Make sure you specifically lookat before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgeryperformed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The mostimportant aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommendthat you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon whocan evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Otoplasty can certainly improve the positioning of one's ears, if the patient feels they are too prominent. I always tell patients that the decision to make aesthetic changes is solely up to them. You will have to decide if the appearance of your ears bothers you. If that is the case, I suggest consultation with a surgeon specializing in facial cosmetic surgery for a consultation and thorough evaluation. Good Luck!
There are people with very prominent ears but they dont bother them. There are people with ungly noses and they are satisfied with them.So the best way is to find an expert plastic surgeon who do many of them and to see similar cases before and after.Watching of the results you will be able to make the right decision.Geneally speaking you have prominent ears and you will benefit from an otoplasty
Hi,Lop ear deformity can be very subjective. The question is whether they are to wide for your liking. They can certainly be brought closer to the side of your head.Best, Dr.S.
It is totally normal to have ears that aren’t exactly the same in shape and/or size. If you’re concerned about asymmetry, it is possible to modify the shape/size of your left ear so that it matches better with your right. Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who’s exper...
Hi there and thanks for your question! It appears that you have a spitting suture behind your ear after your otoplasty. Although the sutures should dissolve over a few weeks to months, the body can sometimes "spit" the superficial sutures to the surface of the skin. These can be trimmed by y...
Thank you for asking about your otoplasty.I am so sorry you are disappointed with the result and I understand why.Your ears won't improve with massage. If you can't afford to go elsewhere, you can either live with this or have her try again. The sutures she placed in the middle of the ear ...
