Lipo for thick waist after tummy tuck?

Question

I had a tummy tuck @2 yrs ago. It very successfully removed the hanging skin I had from pregnancy. I’m under 5’2” & gained a ton, my short torso was destroyed. Now, my stomach is flat, but I still dont have my waistline back. I have more contour on one side but little definition and my upper ab area protrudes more & gives a muffin top w tighter pants. I was previously thinnest there. Would lipo fix the area, give my waist more contour? Is there a less invasive option? -F, 41, 5’1”

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. You are a great candidate for 360 liposuction. This will remove excess fat around your torso. If you wish to add curves, fat grafting can be done as well. I hope this helps.

It is not uncommon for patients get additional liposuction after a tummy tuck for additional definition and curves. Conservative liposuction during a tummy tuck is often the surgeon's approach to help preserve blood supply to the remaining abdominal skin. In most cases such as yours additional liposuction can usually be performed now that you have fully healed from the previous operation. A consultation with your surgeon or another board certified plastic surgeon is the recommended to make sure your goals can be met.

Liposuction can help with waist definition in appropriate candidate.  Liposuction of the flanks from the front and the back "360 Liposuction" helps contour the waist.  One needs enough pinchable fat for liposuction to make a difference.  Some people are naturally short waisted, the ribs costal margin end and the hip bone starts limiting waist contour.

Your tummy tuck results look like they were done by a talented surgeon. unless modified the procedure only treats the front of the abdomen.
To make an assessment we need proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have your before and after pictures ask your surgeon to forward the ones they took.
There is only one sideways picture and then that picture you’re wearing pants so we can’t see the lower abdomen.
The most common reason for patients having bulging of their upper abdomen after this procedure is excess visceral fat pushing against the muscle wall causing bulging of the upper abdomen.
Secondary Liposuction Afton compliments a tummy tuck in treating the sides and back to match the appearance of the front. I always tell patients to judge the quality of work when it comes to a tummy tuck based on how good patients look in the after pictures from all angles including from behind.
If you’re interested in further surgery then talk to the Doctor Who did your tummy tuck. He or she seems to do quality work.
Alternatively you can get a proper second opinion but having other in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons.
