Can a nose be made thinner/more defined with Botox and fillers only?

Question

I have a wide, flat nose and would like a thinner more defined nose. Photos below. Can the nose be made thinner and more defined just with the use of Botox/fillers? Lastly, as I am overweight, would this be likely to affect the shape of the nose? I'm unsure whether to delay my consultation until I'm at goal weight. Thanks in advance for advice

Hi and thanks for your question. I think that you are actually a good candidate for Non Surgical Rhinoplasty. Adding some filler (I prefer Voluma here - it lasts for a year and a half, looks natural and is reversible at any time) to the bridge will define it better, make your nose look more narrow and give better proportion to your nose. The narrowing of your nose is an illusion, based on the fact that the eye judges the width of something from the top layer. If you put a narrow top layer to your bridge, the whole nose will look more narrow. It has to be done carefully, however, to make sure that your bridge does not come up too high on the profile. You should make sure that, if you go with this option, you choose a very experienced injector. Your weight should not affect the width of your nose. Hope that helps

Dear Tanny,

This would be very difficult to correct using dermal filler and I would suggest going for surgical rhinoplasty. Botox can be used if you have flaring of the nostrils / so can help. Fillers can be used to soften a pronounced nose crook and lift the tip of the nose.

Delay consultation till you have reached your weight goals. Generally a better idea,.

Dermal fillers can be used to sculpt the nose, while Botox can be used to stop some movement that the nose might make. Neither of these treatments though, are used to thin out or really change the shape of a nose. Setting up a consultation with a reputable plastic surgeon would be the next best step to take!

I like to use Juvederm Volbella to add volume to the nose. This contours the face and gives a desired lift. This will not affect the shape of your nose. I also like to add Sculptra to the temples and Restylane to the cheeks to give the face a more lifted look.

Would loosing weight improve the appearance of the nose?  Unquestionably.   You have slight fullness along the jawline.  To be quite honest loosing just a small amount of weight can be a big difference here.  Body weight can have an exaggerated impact on the facial appearance.  Loosing as a little as 5 pounds will have positive impact on the jaw line appearance and yes this will affect how you perceive the appearance of the nose.  I also agree with other posters that a small amount of fillers can improve the appearance of your nose and again help with facial balance.  A Microdroplet Lift treatment with Botox will raise the eyebrows and create the appearance of a thinner nose so there is of course a role for Botox.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your
photograph, you are a much better candidate for a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can
accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your
lower nose.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after
pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon
and not just a computer animation system. The most important
aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek
consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate
you in person.

Thank you for sharing your questions. Botox is not usually used for refinement of nose shape. Fillers can be injected along the bridge of the nose to give added height. This improves the shape of the nose from profile. See an expert injector for your treatment. Good luck,

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  In general dermal fillers can be used to help camouflage and reshape aspects of the nose but they do add overall volume.  Based on your desired outcome I would see an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon to see if your expectations can be met.  Weight loss does not affect the appearance/size of the nose, so you need not wait.  Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question! Fillers can be used to define your nose but Botox cannot. Fillers are not permamnent solution and your would have to do it every few months. Better solution for you is rhinoplasty. I would suggest you to make an appointment with certified plastic surgeon with experience in rhinoplasty and evaluate your options and desires. Best of luck!
