Propecia - do side effects go away after you stop taking it? Is becoming sterile real?

The sexual side effects of Propecia/Finasteride (loss of libido,ED) resolve after discontinuing the medication.There have been reports in the news of men experiencing these effects long after stopping Finasteride(Post Finasteride Syndrome) however these claims have not been scientifically substantiated. We have not seen this syndrome  in our practice.

Wow, there are some strong opinions below in this question. One of which I completely disagree with. There are no statistics that stage of that 4-5% of men who take Propecia will have all of these negative symptoms. We have been in practice for quite some time and never seen anyone become sterile let alone suicidal, and all of the other Symptoms that this person stated below.Go to www ISHRS Org Which is the international Society of hair restoration surgeons. There are studies and have all the topics that finasteride and Deutasteride. Propecia a.k.a. finasteride has become a large topic mainly because of the Internet and scare tactics. It’s out of the safe and most men and there is a very small percentage to have issues. It has been proven in placebo trials that at the dose of Propacia as is suggested for hair loss management, the incidence of side effects with propacia is probably similar to sugar tablets. Having said that, it has also been proven that the psychological effects like loss of libido etc are temporary and disappear within 3 weeks of stoppage of the drug. So please go ahead and start it in consultation with a Hair Specializing Clinic

Most side effects go away when you stop the finasteride, particularly the sexual side effects which might take a few weeks to go away. Breast nodules and testicle problems often need to be addressed by a doctor
