Hi, I just have the above three questions about this breast lift scar. I am considering camouflaging the scar through a tattoo, either a simple pattern or a colored image. Is this safe? what are the risks? Thank you very much for your time and advice.

Answer: Is this a keloid scar? Based on the photos that you submitted, it does not look like a keloid or hypertrophic scar. It looks more like a stretched out scar. The color is likely to lighten over time and become less noticable, some times making it difficult to see.

Answer: Hypertrophic scar Looks like a hypertrophic scar rather than a keloid. You may tattoo over this safely; however, the scar will continue to improve with time and may not be so visible after 12 months. Maybe it is best to wait than to permanently tattoo something you may not be happy with in the future.
