Will I get a infection after augmentation If I skip a dose of my antibiotics?

Most plastic surgeons as do I use antibiotics for several days after breast augmentation. Embarrassingly, there is no scientific evidence to support their use. Don't worry about skipping a dosage of medication that is probably no real benefit anyway.

Hi! It's never good to skip a dose of antibiotics. However the possiblity of infection is low. Make sure your surgeon is aware and continue the antibiotics until they are gone. Best of luck to you. 

It's not good to skip your antibiotics, but I seriously doubt you will have an increased risk of infection due to missing a single dose. Infection is rare with breast augmentation. 

Missing one dose of antibiotics should not lead to an infection.  Just get back on the regular course, and keep in contact with your plastic surgeon.Best of luck!

You should be fine even if you miss one dose of antibiotics. As plastic surgeons we all do things somewhat differently, including the prescribed course of antibiotics following breast augmentation. Probably the most important dose of antibiotics we give is intravenously before we make our skin incision. This gives a good blood level of antibiotics while the surgery is being performed.

In general, post op antibiotic are not needed at all...even though everyone, including myself gives them. So No, missing a dose should not effect your risk of infection.

You are not at risk of an infection by missing a dose. If you stress about it, then the stress weakens your immune system. Be positive. Also, don't try to double the dose the next time to make up for it. Just skip it altogether so you are not at risk of side effects. Besides, all the steps required to reduce the risk of infection were already taken by your surgeon during surgery (i.e., preventing contamination, changing gloves, blood-less dissection, etc.). If you had a hematoma soon after surgery, or at high risk of infection, then it may be important. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Still, try to follow your surgeon's instructions as closely as possible and finish the course. Please maintain strict follow-up with your surgeon in order to make sure your breasts are healing beautifully without complications. Hope this helps.
