It is a fairly simple procedure, in experienced hands, which is done under local anesthesia in the office in about 20 minutes. I use the a telescoping technique, whereby the skin is removed at the base and the core is left intact and then the nipple is telescoped down and the skin edges are stitched back together. This elegant technique preserves the nipple sensation an the milk ducts in the major of cases.
