Yes! I always allow my patients to take their garments off in 24 hours after surgery in order to wash them, or in case of liposuction, to also take a shower.
Thank you for your question. I would wait about 24 hours to wash your garment. Also, make sure you have another garment to wear while you wash the first one. Best of luck!Dhaval M. Patel Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Hoffman Estates Barrington Oakbrook Chicago Orland Park
Thanks for your question. A better idea would be to have a second garment available from your plastic surgeon. That way, you can switch out while the other washes. Call your surgeon and discuss. We provide two garments for each patient. Best wishes. Dr. Aldo
Hello kosydar12,Our practice recommends that patients wear their compression garment for 5 to 6 weeks. For the first week it should be worn at all times, however, you can take it off to shower. For 2 to 6 weeks post-op it should be worn for most of the day. It should especially be worn during physical activities. Compression garments help control the swelling, healing, as well as help with the body contouring results. However, it is best to consult with your plastic surgeon. I hope this helps. Thank you for your question. I have my patients wear a compression garment covering all treated areas 24/7 except to shower for 4 weeks post op. This helps ontrol swelling as the compression on your tissues helps your body to reabsorb the edema fluid that accumulates in the tissues after any procedure. This can take quite some time to happen without help from the compression garments. It also helps improve contour. Compression helps to keep the tissues adherent to the underlying structures while healing, this can help prevent the wrinkled skin appearance that can happen when the tissues heal in ways we don't want them to.We suggest our patients to buy two sets of garments for this exact reason, they can put the spare one on while they wash the other one.Best is to check with your chosen surgeon for his advice. Good luck!
It should be fine for you to remove your garment for the time it takes to launder it. Read the care instructions however since some advise against using the dryer, meaning it may be off for several hours while it air dries. An alternate garment may be a good idea.
HelloMy recommendation is to wait at least 24 hours after the surgery to take the garment off. Good luck.RegardsDr. Israel MañonCertified Plastic Surgeon
Of course, it is fine to take your garment off for washing. I would recommend a second garment for an alternate.
