I’ve got blood all over my compression garment from having a tummy tuck surgery today. Is it ok to take it off just to wash it? And then I’d put it right back on

Answer: Taking off the garment. Thanks for your question. A better idea would be to have a second garment available from your plastic surgeon. That way, you can switch out while the other washes. Call your surgeon and discuss. We provide two garments for each patient. Best wishes. Dr. Aldo

Answer: Compression Garment Post Surgery Hello kosydar12,Our practice recommends that patients wear their compression garment for 5 to 6 weeks. For the first week it should be worn at all times, however, you can take it off to shower. For 2 to 6 weeks post-op it should be worn for most of the day. It should especially be worn during physical activities. Compression garments help control the swelling, healing, as well as help with the body contouring results. However, it is best to consult with your plastic surgeon. I hope this helps. Best Regards, Dr. Jose M. Soler-Baillo, M.D, M.S American Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
