Can I take off my compression garment the day of my surgery to wash it? 1 day post TT.

Thanks for your question. A better idea would be to have a second garment available from your plastic surgeon. That way, you can switch out while the other washes. Call your surgeon and discuss. We provide two garments for each patient. Best wishes. Dr. Aldo

Thank you for your question. I  have my patients wear a compression garment covering all treated areas 24/7 except to shower for 4 weeks post op.  This helps ontrol swelling as the compression on your tissues helps your body to reabsorb the edema fluid that accumulates in the tissues after any procedure. This can take quite some time to happen without help from the compression garments.  It also helps improve  contour.  Compression helps to keep the tissues adherent to the underlying structures while healing, this can help prevent the wrinkled skin appearance that can happen when the tissues heal in ways we don't want them to.We suggest our patients to buy two sets of garments for this exact reason, they can put the spare one on while they wash the other one.Best is to check with your chosen surgeon for his advice.
