I have a vacation booked to go snowboarding 6 1/2 weeks after surgery. TT is in two weeks. Will I be ok to do this in that timeframe? Should I postpone the surgery until after the trip?
Answer: Snowboarding 6 weeks after tummy tuck surgery? Congratulations on your decision to proceed with tummy tuck procedure. I find that many patients underestimate the actual recovery time associated with extensive operations such as tummy tuck surgery. The operation is associated with a very significant physical, and often "emotional", recovery period. I ask my tummy tuck patients to refrain from any heavy-lifting or strenuous exercise for 6-8 weeks to prevent any complications and ensure proper healing. Even at 2 months post op patients will report that they have not reached full strength/stamina. It may be 4-6 months before patients reach full strength. In my practice, I would ask patients to avoid very rigorous activity such as snowboarding for at least three months after tummy tuck surgery. Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to returning to specific activities. My best suggestion: start slow, gradually ease back into activities, and listen to her body as you do so. Best wishes.

Answer: Probably too soon It all depends on your recovery and the extent of your surgery. 6.5 weeks may be too soon after a tummy tuck to go snowboarding, since the sport is quite physically intensive. I would recommend you speak with your surgeon to find out what their opinion is.

Answer: Snowboarding Hello,Thank you for your question. I would agree that snowboarding might be a bit too intense to dive back into. At 6 weeks I allow my patients to begin resuming all of their previous activities, but I do recommend they take it slow and listen to their body for comfort. It will be difficult to predict exactly how you will feel. I recommend that you talk this over with your surgeon,All the best

Answer: Snowboarding Thank you for you question. Most surgeons will allow patients to return to normal activities at 6 weeks following surgery. I do not think snowboarding at 6 weeks following an abdominoplasty would be wise though. Strenuous activities that require a lot of core strength should be avoided until at least 3 months. Best of luck.

Answer: Snowboarding 6 weeks after Tummy Tuck? Thank you for your question. Everybody is different in their recovery time. Minimal exercise should be okay but I would not recommend snowboarding. I would talk to your plastic surgeon and see if he feels comfortable with it. I would recommend taking it easy and avoid any potential risks. Best of luck!Dhaval M.
