As long as you were able to not have contact sports for at least 4 to 6 weeks after surgery then a rhinoplasty could give you a more attractive nose. You did not need chin or jaw implants. A chance in implant will actually make you look worse.
Rhinoplaslty and chin augmentation would be beneficial based on the photographs you provided. If you are a collage or professional athlete, then of course there is always some risk that you might re-injure the nose or possibly suffer a severe enough injury to displace the implant. I think that with about 6 weeks of healing, it is however unlikely. Unprotected sports like soccer, baseball, and basketball probabaly have a higher risk of injury to the nose, but you just need to weigh the risk.
Thank you very much for sharing your concerns with us.The harmony between facial parts makes us instinctively recognize the beauty... without knowing it, without defining it, just a perception that surprises and captivates us.In this regard, I suggest perform a Closed Rhinoplasty (without visible scars) to treat the tip, base and nasal bridge. With this procedure you get a delicate nose, better harmonize with your other facial features.Extreme sports as football are suspended for the first 3-4 months post op to avoid unnecesary risks. Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
A rhinoplasty procedure can accomplish straightening the crooked nose. This is accomplished with osteotomies placed in the nasal bones, and a spreader graft placed on the concave side in the midportion of the nose. The dorsal hump can also be shaved down and the projection of the nose decreased. A Silastic chin implant can be inserted through a submental approach to give added projection to the chin to help with facial balance in proportions, especially with respect to the overly projecting nose from the side profile. Chin implants are manufactured in a variety of shapes and sizes which is determined at the time of the consultation and examination. Rhinoplasty is a very difficult endeavor, so choose your rhinoplasty surgeon very wisely based on extensive experience. It is best not to have any contact sports for at least 6-8 weeks after the procedure. For many examples and more information, please see the link and the video below
Hello,Great Questions. You definitely can wear a helmet after having a chin implant. However, you will need to wait at least a few weeks. A chin implant, once settled, will not move short of anything except breaking your jaw. This would take at least 4 weeks, but you might wait 8 to be safe. However, it tends to be that pressing on a chin after chin implant is uncomfortable for several more months. Perhaps in your case not, or perhaps you can just work through it. As far as the nose. You will want to be very careful about striking your nose after a rhinoplasty. Your nose will take at least 2 months for the bones to be reasonably solid, but even at that, a descent hit can break things loose. Of course, wearing a helmet is supposed to keep balls, knees, elbows, etc from hitting your nose. However, helmets occasionally get yanked off and then there are practice drills where no helmet is worn. You must consider these things.Best of Luck,Dr. AAustin, TX
Hi, I have performed many Rhinoplasty Surgeries and Chin Augmentations using chin implants on military, law enforcement, martial arts specialists and athletes. The chin implant will be secure and in place at 1 month post-op as will the nasal bones from the Rhinoplasty. I have patients refrain from strenuous activity for 1 month following the surgery after which they can resume normal activity. From the photos you are a good candidate for a Rhinoplasty combined with chin implant placement. IMHO, mandibular implants are far more invasive, have a much longer recovery time and more unwanted side effects than chin implant and Rhinoplasty. For that reason, I augment the mandibular angle with a long acting dermal filler (Restylane Lyft or Radiesse) to add volume, angularity and flare to the jaw line. Hope this helps.
I just did a chin implant on a professional baseball player but I would be concerned doing this on an athlete playing a contact sport like football. I would want you to wait about 6 weeks after surgery before any activity where there was a risk of facial trauma.
Rhinoplasty is certainly the most challenging surgery plastic surgeons perform. There are many reasons. The nose is a complex structure of skin cartilage and bone. It is three dimensional. It is unforgiving and any problems are easily visible and hard to hide. Training in rhinoplasty varies...
Hi there,I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with your results. Swelling for up to 1 year post-op closed rhinoplasty is normal, but being that you are 2 years out it should not be as severe as you're stating, unless you had open rhinoplasty which can cause all sorts of complications. I highly...
Hi. There is no bone that goes all the way to your tip so relax. If you desire an aesthetic improvement of your nose then a personal consultation is indicated. Good luck, Dr PG
