I have gotten two rounds of kybella for my double chin. I have noticed good results but still have some loose skin in the neck area. When I clench the muscles in my mouth, it looks great. But candid and rested photos are another story. Any suggestions would be very welcome!
Answer: Skin Laxity of Under Chin Due to having some skin laxity, a third Kybella treatment will not provide your desired result. Overall though, you have shown tremendous progress! Kybella is purely used for adipose (fat) reduction and if the skin of the treatment region is not tight or firm, the skin will continue to hang if not treated properly. There are many types of non-invasive treatments available on the market that can help with skin laxity such as a resurface CO2 laser and radiofrequency treatments such as Forma or Fractora. You may even benefit from Botox of the platysmal bands, but it's hard to determine without proper examination or standardized photos. I strongly advise seeking consultation with a skilled Facial Plastics surgeon who has thorough understanding of the face and neck anatomy.Best,Dr. Anil Shah

Answer: What are my options?? Ask Dr. Ellen... Great question. The answer to this question is individualized to your specific anatomy and desired results. Kybella works great to permanently dissolve submental fat. Patients typically need 3 treatments with Kybella that are spread 4-6 weeks apart. After the injections, the treated area can be swollen for 1-2 weeks. After the swelling goes down, the fat will start to dissolve, and the results will show. Another option would be liposuction of the neck. Liposuction is going to be better for someone who has a diffuse band of fat around the face. After the surgery patients must wear a face band to help hold the chin area tight. This band needs to be worn as much as possible for the first two weeks. Swelling after surgery can last for 6 weeks, but the results are going to be more dramatic. The surgery, unlike Kybella, is a one and done procedure. Go to a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who can help guide into the right direction. Best of luck! In Good Health, Dr. Ellen Mahony

Answer: Kybella Thank you for your question and submitting your photos. Based on the photos, it does not appear that additional Kybella treatments would benefit you. It is best to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss the several options ranging from surgical to laser or other skin tightening technologies to address your remaining concerns. Best wishes on obtaining a great result!

Answer: Kybella Dear qdoran,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office. I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Loose skin Hello there! Your results are amazing! Congratulations! At this time, I would recommend you look into non-invasive skin-tightening to further improve your jawline. Ultherapy and Exilis will help to stimulate the deep tissue, giving a lifting and tightening affect. This will help to decrease the amount of laxity you see below your jaw. Both of these procedures take several months to take affect. Good luck! Sarah RN BSN
