Surgery increases your risk for dangerous blood clots, but blood thinners are usually prescribed for those at higher than average risk due either to lifestyle factors or history. Ask your doctor why they thought blood thinners were necessary. They are not without side effects.
Thanks for your question and we always recommend that you have these kinds of conversations before having an elective procedure rather than after. I am sure your provider had his/her reasons for doing this although unless there was a medical need, most of us would not give these for in-office procedures. Check with your doc to find out why he did this – and next time, ask questions before you have things done.
Thanks for your question. The answer would largely depend your medical history. If you've had a prior DVT or PE from blood clotting, or have a known clotting disorder, then using a blood thinner such as Lovenox after this procedure is added protection & safety. Generally risks of DVT with Smartlipo done in the office with you awake are very small. Best wishes.
i do not know the particulars of your case. however, Smartlipo is almost always done under local with oral sedation. Your risk of having a blood clot after this, is basically the same as if you did not have any surgery. It makes zero sense to me to put you on blood thinners afterwards. Everything has risks and i would think that in your case, the risks far outweigh any possible benefits. It would definitely make sense for you to ask your doctor why he thinks you should be on them. I suspect that there is no good reason,.david berman md
Hi! It can take up to 6 months to see the final result. It takes approximately 6 months for collagen and elastin to grow and make the skin tighter. This procedure is a process and you may experience residual swelling for several months. If you have concerns talk to your...
A chin implant with liposuction of the submental area and neck along with the jowls would be a reasonable option to avoid more involved surgery.
Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent procedure. It's best to seek a follow up visit with your surgeon to discuss what you are experiencing and to ensure you are healing properly. Good luck and congratulations, again!
