I had some hidrocystoma cysts removed from the outer corners of my eyes 5 weeks ago. Is the incision healing normally? (Photo)

Question

The surgeon has removed the obvious but some were left and seems some have reappeared at the suture points. Cosmetically it looks no better which was the intent of the surgery. The incision site on my left eye is very obvious and doesn't seem to be healing well? Is this expected for 5 weeks after?

Thank you for sharing your question and photos. It is difficult to judge the healing from your photos. Unfortunately, hydrocystomas offer recur. You may need to have them excised again. See an experienced Oculoplastic Surgeon who has a lot of experience with these type of eyelid lesions.Good luck,

Hi. Hydrocystomas are fairly common in or around the eyelids. They can recur- especially if they are not completely excised. New lesions can also form. It is hard to tell from your photos of you have new/ recurrent hydrocystomas, epidermal inclusion cysts, or inflammation/ scarring from the procedure. Recurrent or new lesions can be excised. Scarring may just need more time to heal, but can also be treated if necessary. It would be a good idea to see an oculoplastic surgeon for a consultation to determine your best options.
