How long does the surgery for TT and Muscle repair take?

There are considered 3 types of tummy tucks. Mini-tummy tuck, regular and extended. Surgical time is usually 2-4 hours depending on the amount of liposuction. MY technique places the scar extremely low, approximately 7 cm from the vaginal crease within the bikini line. The belly botton scar is "inny". Muscles are tightened in midline, liposuction of the lower lateral aspect of the abdomen, along with the upper abdomen and flanks to improve the contour maybe added to the proceedure depending on the individual. In most cases, I use a pain pump. It is used to control the pain for the first 48 hours and reduce the amount of narcotics taken. Surgical discomfort is controlled with pain pump and pain meds.10-14 days back to the activities of daily living4-6 weeks normal exercise

Many people believe that muscle is repaired during a
tummy tuck.The muscle is not repaired
but the lining of the muscle called fascia is.The operation takes approximately 3 hours.In many cases, women need increased support
that sutures alone will not provide.For

the abdominal wall resulting in a hourglass figure, early satiety, weight loss

Surgical time varies based on each patient. Usually it can take 2-3 hours. Please consult a board certified plastic surgeon. 

I have performed a lot of abdominoplasties, but despite all that experience I still find it depends on the following 3 factors: 1. size of patient, 2. whether or not the muscles will be tightened, and 3. whether liposuction is to done. So the range of time is from 1-3 hours, with the most common amount of time to be told to the average patient being 2. Hope that helps.

Usually the case takes about 3 hours, depending on how complex the case is.  If previous surgery is done or if there is significant scarring it may take longer.  Also liposuction can extend this a bit. 

The surgical time to perform a Tummuy Tuck with muscle repair depends on 2 issues… the size of the patient and the surgeons experience. On average this is 2-3 hours. But can last as long as 4 hours on a person of larger size. Total OR time will be longer with anesthesia procedures included. Ask you PS how long they thinks it will take . Most should be within 30 min of their estimate.

A tummy tuck will usually take between three and four hours. Quite a bit of this time may be devoted to liposuction of the abdominal wall and flanks. Sometimes extra sutures are placed inside to allow us to depend less on drains. Sometimes hernias are encountered and need to be fixed. Placement of a pain pump may often add to the duration of the operation. In short, there are many variables that determine the length of this surgery.

To do this properly, it would take between 3 to 4 hours.  I believe liposuction is an important component of a TT and this takes a bit longer to perform in conjunction with the TT. 

My average time for tummy tucks including the muscle tightening and liposuction to the tummy is 3 1/2 hrs. That is the total time from the time you enter the operating room till you leave. The actual time of "surgery" is probably a bit over 2 1/2 hrs. The other time is the time it takes for you to be put to sleep, prepared, and woken up. It is important to get the total time when comparing costs as most facilities will base their charges on time.

Make sure your comparing apples to apples. A complete TT takes longer than a mini tuck, if lipo is added, this will take longer.  Your surgeon should also include the entire time the procedure will take including billed pre and post anesthesia time.  That way your given price quote will be more accurate in the end. That said, a TT will usually take 3 hrs, 4 with lipo added.
