I'm getting rhinoplasty after 9 days. Should I concerned? My surgeon said they are not related with each other and I should be fine. I had fue with local anesthesia and will receive general anesthesia for rhinoplasty. My other concern is that will I lose hair grafts during rhinoplasty? Please help. Thank you,

Answer: Rhinoplasty after hair transplant At 9 days after hair transplant it is ok to have rhinoplasty but your surgeon and anesthesiologist need to be aware of it. This way they will handle your scalp gently while you are asleep.RegardsDr. J

Answer: Rhinoplasty 9 days after hair transplantation In my opinion, it would be fine to have rhinoplasty performed 9 days after having had hair transplantation. I would agree with your surgeon and say that one should not affect the other.

Answer: Rhinoplasty after Hair Transplant This is a very interesting question. After hair transplant (by any technique) it is incredibly common (the rule not the exception) for the transplanted hairs to "fall out" at about 2-3 weeks post op as these follicular units undergo Telogen (resting state of the hair follicle). Assuming the original surgery was done correctly, almost all of the transplanted hairs will re-grow in a couple of months when the hair follicle transitions back into anagen (actively growing state)! Anesthesia/emotional stress/pain are throught to promote Telogen Effluvium, a synchronized early entry of hair follicles into the Telogen stage, which can cause rapid and diffuse hair shedding. This is generally self limited (ie after the inciting event the hair will grow back). Sometimes there is substantial edema of the forehead and the periocular area after hair transplantation (due to the local anesthesia tumescent), and if this is still present at the time of your planned Rhinoplasty, I would recommend waiting, as the edema may distort the relation of the root of the nose with the forehead and even the external nasal anatomy and effect your outcome. If the edema from the hair transplant has subsided, then it is probably fine to proceed. So in short-- your newly transplanted hair will likely fall out a couple weeks after the transplant but will regrow in a few months, which is expected and normal. Adding additional stressors (anesthesia, surgery, pain, etc.) can cause additional hair loss, but both of these situations are self limited. You want your anatomy to be as close to baseline as possible for your rhinoplasty so that you obtain an optimal outcome, if your edema has subsided, then it is probably fine to proceed. You should speak with you surgeon about your concerns.

Answer: Rhinoplasty and Hair Transplantation There is noi direct correlation between rhinoplasty surgery and the hair transplantation sites. There are anatomically neighbors but operating on the nose would not adversely affect the early healing hair transplants.
