Over-scooped nose? I got a rhinoplasty 3 weeks ago. (Photos)

You need to have patience with your body as it begins to heal. The skin, bone and cartilage are all traumatized during surgery. Inflammation (swelling) is the normal response and will help your nose to heal and look beautiful in the end. Right now, concentrate on other things you like to do and let your nose and under eyes take the time to heal. It can take up a year for your final results. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry you are having these concerns about your surgery. At 3 weeks post-operative, however, you will still have quite a bit of swelling.  This swelling can be focused on the tip of the nose, which can give a 'scooped' appearance at this stage.  It will take anywhere from 6 months to 1 year for this all to resolve.  As the swelling subsides, I think you will notice that the shape of the nose improves dramatically.
Be sure to follow up with your surgeon, and follow his/her post-operative instructions.  I hope that this helps!

You are still early in your recovery period and the nose is expected to be quite swollen at this point.The swelling during this time is rarely symmetric. One side will always resolve more quickly than the other. The majority of the swelling will resolve in 3-6 months, and will continue to resolve as your nose heals for up to 1-2 years. You have not reached your final shape as the nose will continue to heal and reduce in size for up to a year. Once it does reach its final shape you may be more pleased with the appearance of your nose.

Your nose will slowly change every month up until about month 12.Here in Cincinnati, my patients will come back many times during the first year for follow up.Contact your physician if you are having concerns and they should be able to address.

It's too soon for final results. You have to give yourself some more healing time.  Your nose and surrounding areas are going to be swollen for a while and you should be consulting the surgeon that performed the procedure. However, give yourself some time before going back in so some of it can subside. It can take up to a year for final results.

The appearance of your nasal bridge and nose looks good three weeks postoperative. You may always have a curve, but the fullness and swelling of your tip will subside. If you want your bridge a tad higher, permanent nonsurgical rhinoplastic treatments with microdroplet Silikon-1000 may be considered, depending on your exam. Hope this helps! Dr Joseph

Hello.  I can understand your concern.  Three weeks is still too early to make any conclusion about your results.  The tip swelling can take months to go down, and can give impression of a scooped look.  The best thing is to maintain your follow up appointments with your surgeon and tell him/her your concerns.  Take care.

Dear Realself user,I hope you are having a great recovery.3 weeks is very early to see the final result of your surgery.Give your body more time to heal and after all the swelling will go away then you can have a better look at the shape. usually it takes up to 1 year for the nose to set completely but most of the swelling in your face will be gone in the first 2 months.Best of luck.

Congratulations for your recent operation and thank you for the photos. 3 weeks after surgery is really early days for rhinoplasty. The swelling will progressively go down starting from the top of the nose to the tip and therefore for several weeks you will feel that the tip is too projected, giving you the optical effect of a scooped nose.
