Am I candidate for an eyelid lift or brow lift? (photo)

Question

Hello! I’m 35 yo. Would an eyelid lift help my eyelids become more symmetrical? Always had some drooping, but with age it is more significant. I had a consult where I was told since my eyebrows are uneven my lids will never look symmetrical unless I also get a brow lift. I don’t want unnecessary surgeries. Thanks!

Thank you for your question. You do appear to have more upper eyelid skin on the right side that may be able to be improved with an upper lid blepharoplasty. It is important to have an in-person examination to ensure there are no other etiologies for the asymmetry. I recommend an in-person consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon. Ok from these pictures, I would see an oculoplastic surgeon.  You seem have mild ptosis of your left eyelid leaving your fold above the eyelid higher.  The right could use a very conservative eyelid lift.  The brow position needs an in person exam to determine the position of each brow on the bone of your eye socket (known as the orbital rim).  The left may need ptosis surgery and some fat grafting to create symmetry.  Best Wishes!!

As long as you do not have ptosis, you can undergo a Single upper eyelid procedure. It would be possible to only perform your right eyelid blepharoplasty to match the left.
