I have lost appx 60-70 lbs but I am still significantly obese. Weighing in at 280. My problem is in my twenties I had a Fallopian tube removed and they cut across my stomach which left me with no sensation on my belly and it hangs. With the weight loss it hangs more. I want to continue losing weight but the belly hang is embarrassing and i get sweat, rashes and yeast infections there. Would it be worth getting a tummy tuck and Lipo now, knowing I want to loose a significant amount of more weight?
Answer: Tummy Tuck - Weight loss first Thank you for your question. I believe it is best to be within 10 - 15 pounds of your ideal body weight prior to surgery for optimal results. Once you have lost some additional weight, please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in body contouring for an in-person examination. Ask to see a lot of before and after pictures of their work to understand what can be achieved. Hope this helps and good luck.

Answer: Tummy tuck / Mini Tummy Tuck /Abdominoplasty/ Liposuction/ Reverse Abdominoplasty/Tummy Tuck Revision I appreciate your question.Best to be at a BMI less than 30 or within 10 pounds of your goal weight and stable at that weight for 6 months prior to surgery for optimal results. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery. Best of luck! Answer: Weight loss before surgery, some advices: Thank you very much for this interesting and important question.Trying to lose weight before a surgical procedure its a very delicate matter, since in many cases a restrictive diet can cause problems, such as anemia, electrolyte disturbances, decreased protein, etc ... retarding the healing process and damaging the surgery. For these reasons, if your purpose is to lose weight, i recommend you have a BMI less or equal to 30. In this regard, you must to have a support with a nutritionist, so you can achieve the desired goal, in the most healthy way, without incressing complications risks in the plastic surgery to perform.Kind regards,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol.-

Answer: Tummy Tuck for Belly Hang Congratulations on your weight loss. Having a tummy tuck before reaching your goal weight or finished having children is not advised. However, removing just the excess skin can be done to help with your issues of your "belly hang" then when you have reached a comfortable weight that you feel you can maintain would be the time to get a tummy tuck. Be sure to consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who will be able to evaluate you and give you your options. Good luck.

Answer: I'm overweight still but lost 60 lbs. I have a belly hang. Can a tummy tuck help? I support your desire for improvement. Your photo is not that helpful. I would recommend a thorough consultation with an experienced Board Certified PS including physical exam, which will allow the PS to give you the best recommendation. It's not totally out of the question to perform a major Abdominoplasty on patients in your situation. Generally speaking, weight loss and lifestyle recommitment are preferable prior to embarking on the surgical path. Hope this helps
