You should check with your doctor. Usually three months is enough time to wait after surgery. Good luck!
Usually you can pierce your belly button after approximately 3 to 6 months. This all depends on the blood flow and healing to your bellybutton tissues. If you're piercing will go through only scar tissue at your belly button and that's the way it was formed then you're better off waiting longer
Although your surgeon should be the only final advice on this matter, for my patients I generally recommend waiting six months. This allows time for the blood supply to the belly button to recover from the surgical trauma, and for the scars to soften and fade. Although the risk of an infected pierced belly button, even in unoperated tissue, is never zero, after six months it should be acceptably low and unlikely. Just make sure you follow appropriate sterility protocols, and after care, after getting it pierced.Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA
My short answer is Never. In general I do not recommend getting you belly button pierced after a full tummy tuck. IMO, this procedure has a high rate of infection and often times the pierced hole collapses and you are left with an ugly discolored scar that you did not need. The main reason is that this is no longer your native belly button anatomy but mostly scar tissue now. I do not recommend piercing the belly button post tummy tuck. Instead, I work hard to create a belly button that looks and feels natural so that you don't have to pierce the new one. Hope this helps.Dr Vasisht
You may get your belly button pierced after a tummy tuck. I would recommend waiting at least 6 months before doing so. Best wishes
Thank you for your excellent question. The best answer to your question will be provided by your operating plastic surgeon because each plastic surgeon may have a slightly different protocol. Also, the answer depends on how well your belly button heals postoperatively. For example, if your belly button takes slightly longer to fully heal, then it would be advisable to wait longer before the piercing. In general, I would say to wait 3-6 months. Best wishes!
Always ask your doctor. I let my patients do this 3-6 months after surgery if they are not having any ongoing issues with healing.
Thank you for your question. I usually recommend waiting 3-6 months after a tummy tuck before you re-pierce your belly button. I recommend asking your own plastic surgeon what he/she recommends.
I would suggest 6 months after it has fully healed for a standard TT.If you have had a F de Lys I would not pierce the umbilicus. It is likely to cut out if you pierce through the vertical scar tissue. It would be advisable to check with your plastic surgeon first incase there are some special circumstances that relate to you or your operation.Best wishes
Thank you for the question. It would be best for you to check with your plastic surgeon regarding timing of belly button piercing. He/she will know exactly how your healing and when it will be safe to proceed with the piercing.Generally speaking, assuming the healing process is progressing normally, I would suggest you wait at least 6 months before piercing the belly button. Obviously, great care must be taken to avoid infectious complications.I hope this helps.
