I am 37 yrs old and 5'7". I have lost 75 pounds. I went from 260 to 180 and this is still what I have left. I just wondered if it looks more like i would need panniculectomy vs. a tummy tuck. I go for a consultation on Monday but I wanted some other opinions as well.

Answer: Panniculectomy vs tummy tuck Both are similar and remove the excess skin. A tummy tuck also tightens the underlying muscle layer and makes recovery longer. An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon is recommended to determine which option is best for you.

Answer: Panniculectomy VS Tummy Tuck? Congratulations on your significant weight loss. Most patients in your situation would likely opt for tummy tuck surgery. Some general thoughts may be helpful to you:The tummy tuck operation is an abdominal wall contouring operation that serves to reapproximate the abdominal wall muscles that have spread with pregnancy and remove the “excess skin” of the lower abdomen. It is generally consider an "aesthetic" procedure, compared to the panniculectomy operation which is more of a “medically necessary” procedure. The panniculectomy operation involves excision of the lower abdominal wall pannus or overhanging skin/adipose tissue. It is not considered an aesthetically driven procedure; it is often performed to help with concerns such as skin breakdown, infections/rashes… I hope this, and the attached link, helps. Best wishes.
