Answer: BBL or liposuction Dear Enthusiastic923182, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: BBL with Marfan syndrome If you get medical clearance you should be able to have liposuction with or without fat transfer. Marfan syndrome should not have a substantial impact on this procedure and you probably know firsthand the medical conditions that come along with the condition so as long as you have not developed problems with your aorta etc. I would think you would be OK to have the procedure. Personally I don’t recommend virtual consultations for any patient or any procedure. I recommend patients stay local and have in person consultations for elective surgical procedures whenever possible. The purpose of a consultation includes getting an assessment and having an assessment to understand your candidacy for the procedure is a very important part of the decision making. Undergoing procedures that I have a little benefit for individuals who are not good candidates makes little sense while it could have a dramatic impact for those who are exceptionally good candidates. Candidacy for the BBL is a bit of a complex topic and there are lotta variables to take into consideration. It’s also extremely important to vet plastic surgeons properly for permanent and irreversible procedures. Delivering consistent quality liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe and this includes most plastic surgeons. For that reason I would encourage you to only schedule in person consultations at which time you can get a personal assessment, that the provider thoroughly by asking them to open up their portfolio and show their entire collection of before and after pictures as well as talk about your medical history and why it is or is not a concern for the provider. If you contact and major high-volume BBL Mill in Miami you’re likely to get screened by someone other than the plastic surgeon. Each provider or clinic will have their own set of rules or standards but with medical clearance I see no reason why you couldn’t entertain having a BBL. It makes a whole lot more sense to move forward if you’re a good candidate and I would also strongly emphasize the need to find a sufficiently talented and experienced provider. There are far too many badly done liposuction and fat transfer procedures with patients having lifetime regrets of having ever considered wanting these operations. Find the right plastic surgeon and everything falls into place. During consultations ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures or at least as many as they are willing to. Ask the providers to show as many examples of patients with similar body characteristics to your owner. Ask them to show you pictures of high-quality outcomes, average outcomes and less than outcomes. An experience provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of quality before and after pictures. Highly experienced surgeons will have hundreds or even thousands of before and after pictures for a commonly performed procedures. Continue having consultations until you find the right provider. It’s a time consuming process but this is one you want to get right. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Cosmetic surgery if with Marfan's syndrome Hi and welcome to our forum!Marfan's syndrome is an autosomal dominant genetic connective tissue disorder. It may predispose a patient to an aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection, heart valve malformation, eye lens dislocation, retinal tear, glaucoma and cataracts. It may cause development of scoliosis of the spine, pectus excavatum or pectus carinatum. Aortic problems are noted in Marfan's syndrome, affecting 90% of patients. If associated with obesity, there is a further increase of risk. The altered skin will not demonstrate normal expansion with BBL and may exhibit significant stretch marks and a less than acceptable result. The risk / benefit ratio is troublesome. I would have considerable difficulty accepting you for a cosmetic surgery procedure even with cardiac clearance. "First do no harm".Best wishes...
