BBL December 20, 2024 - when should I go on the consultation for a breast augmentation?

Question

I am getting a BBL on Friday December 20, 2024. I also want to get a breast augmentation. (Implants with a lift) When should I go on the consultation for a breast augmentation and when can I have the breast augmentation surgery? I would prefer to have the breast augmentation as soon as I can after the BBL. That way I can recover faster from both surgeries and really be able to work out in the gym to get my body in the best shape of my life.

Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon for a breast augmentation before your BBL, preferably several weeks in advance. This allows time for thorough discussion, planning, and addressing any pre-surgery requirements. Regarding the timing of the breast augmentation surgery, your surgeon will advise based on factors like your overall health, recovery from the BBL, and individual healing capabilities.

Dear Melxx101,
you should be fully healed after first elective procedure before you get another elective procedure. Most surgeons will recommend you to wait few months between two procedures. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

I admire the fact that you have a long-term plan! While in person consultation would be needed, you should be able to have your BBL surgery and breast augmentation at the same time, allowing just one recovery. If you are set on Surgery for next December, you can start doing Early research now locating one or two or three Surgeons for you to consider. I would then go to formal consultations in June or July to pick a surgeon and surgical plan. Come see me or other board-certified plastic surgeons in our area. By next December, you will be all set! There are different options. In some cases when liposuction and fat grafting do not involve significant volume and potential blood loss or too long surgery, these two procedures can be combined. Liposuction and fat transfer are done first and breast lift augmentation should follow as a separate procedure when patient is turned back into supine position.  However , it may be safer to do BBL first followed with lift/augmentation several weeks after. Discussion with your surgeon about individual preferences and risks is always the best. Good luck.

Because of the BBL, I do not let my patients lay flat on their backs for 3 months. You need to wait 3 months.

You should schedule a consultation for the breast augmentation a few months prior to your BBL if you are wanting the procedures done separately.  You will likely need to wait until early spring of the following year to have your augmentation depending on the details of your BBL surgery and how you progress through recovery.

Surgeons may have certain restrictions after the BBL regarding laying on your back. Other than that you can pretty much have the breast surgery whenever you want to after the BBL. You can definitely not lay on your abdomen after the breast surgery for at least a month, so doing the BBL after the breast surgery is not a good idea unless you give yourself plenty of time to heal.These are all questions you should be with your provider.
