I have thick ankles and legs since a very young age. Even when I was under the weight I should have been, they were always thick and prevented me from wearing heels or skirts. Is there a procedure that can make my legs and ankles look feminine, and what should I do? Many thanks. Deniz
Answer: Cankles with Liposuction Thank you for your question regarding whether the appearance of your cankles can be minimized with liposuction and what is the best procedure to achieve feminine ankles and legs. I highly suggest you consider VASER liposuction. With VASER liposuction, ultrasonic energy is used to melt fat and tighten skin; a tiny cannula is inserted to remove fat in tight areas. This is especially useful when working around the ankles; therefore, I suggest VASER liposuction to your cankles. You may require one or two treatments to receive optimal results. Due to the sensitive area, this procedure should be performed under general anesthesia. Please seek an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon who has treated cankles. Good luck. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Cankles Hello and thank you for your question! As you describe, “cankles” refers to when the ankle and calf are bulky and lack definition to create the aesthetically pleasing transition/contour from calf to ankle. Many women are self-conscious about the appearance of their lower legs and also often find it hard to wear boots. There are many things that contribute to the appearance and shape of the lower leg, including your bone structure, muscle tone, and fat. When fat is the culprit, liposuction can be performed to remove this excess fat and create a natural and aesthetically pleasing contour of the lower leg. I perform this using a combination of liposuction techniques with fine cannulas through small incisions under IV sedation in my fully-accredited operating room.

Answer: Ankles and legs Hi, thanks for your question. It's not easy to give an answer without examination or a photo. Anyway, the general answer is yes. You could have lipo on ankles and legs to enhance their appearance, making them more feminine. Please consult a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area for an in-person evaluation. Good luck!
