Thank you for your question. We don't typically require removing a birth control implant in order to have surgery. With that being said obviously there is always a risk of blood clots with surgery and being on birth control that risk goes a bit higher. It is super important to be moving around after surgery, deep breathing and coughing to help prevent that. I would suggest speaking with your Surgeon of choice to discuss your concern and follow their recommendations. Best of luck to you.
Hi Roughhouse, your surgeon will have to avoid the area that the Nexplanon implant is as long as it is not in the space that needs to be liposuctioned (I.e. some patients have the implant on the outer upper arm which is out of the way in the most common scenario of inner arm liposuction). If it is in the way, perhaps it can be moved. to another area (lower belly, hip, etc.)? Having changes in hormones around the time of surgery can increase chances of blood clot formation depending upon your other risk factors, so discuss this with your surgeon before doing anything. Good luck! Dr. Doolabh
Providing that you do not have any other medical issues, it would be safe to proceed with liposuction withour removing implant. It will slightly increase your risk for postoperative blood cloth (tromboembolism). If surgery is done in the area of the implant, I would avoid being aggressive in that particular area or do no liposuction there at all. You should discuss this issue with your surgeon ahead of surgery. Good luck.
Hi, it is possible to do, I did about 10 arm liposuction procedures with the device in place, and it never moved or got sucked in. But some surgeons might avoid liposuction in that case. Just make sure you ask your surgeon at a preoperative consult.
Hello! No the Nexplanon implant typically has no effect on you being a candidate for arm liposuction. You will need to talk to surgeon beforehand and show them where the implant is so they can avoid that area during the procedure.
Liposuction will not be done in the area of the implant so it will not be disturbed. The other areas can be treated.
Which plastic surgeon will have their own opinion so your best option is to move forward and have a few in person consultations and find out what each provider will have to say. It’s unlikely any plastic surgeon will give you a confirmative answer if the implant will work normally and the same is going to be true for OB/GYN doctors. most likely the implant will not be affected and should release hormones normally but nobody is going to guarantee that.In terms of the Liposuction itself it really shouldn’t make much difference but some providers may have issues with it.My best guess is most providers will not have an issue with you having the birth control implant.Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe it.Extremity liposuction is technically a little more complex than treating the abdomen. Results vary quite dramatically based on who does the procedure so provider selection is paramount in minimizing ending up with a problem or long-term dissatisfaction.I recommend anybody interested and Liposuction has multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons.Personally I recommend people avoid virtual consultations whenever possible and I highly recommend against traveling long distances for elective surgical procedures.During each consultation ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of previous arm liposuction results.Ask providers to specifically show you as many before and after pictures of kids who have similar arm characteristics to your own. that means previous patients who had the same amount of skin laxity, similar age, similar amount of fat layer and overall similar sizePersonally I treat a Arms circumferencially including treating over the deltoid and blending into the forearm. Ask providers to show you examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and outcomes that did not turn out as well as they had hoped. ask them specifically what their revision rate is and what the revision policy is.Being shown a handful of preselected images most likely representing the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider.Look very carefully at each set of before and after pictures to make sure there are no skin contour irregularities in any of the areas treated.Personally I like to judge arm results with the arms in a down position. You can see some of my arm liposuction before and after pictures on this website under my profile to get an idea. For reference a highly experienced surgeon it should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 set a before and after pictures of frequently done procedures. Arms is not as common as for example the abdomen but it’s certainly not an uncommon area.I would expect a sufficiently experienced provider to at least have 20 or 30 sets of before and after pictures of this procedure. Haily experience surgeons well I have hundreds of before and after pictures of common perform procedures and senior surgeons may even have thousands. The main thing is to make sure you see enough pictures to confirm you’ll have a clear understanding of what average results look like and get confirmation of how many of these procedures that provider has actually performed.I would say less than 10 sets of before and after pictures is simply insufficient. You really need to get confirmation do you have a good understanding of what the average results look like and approximately how many of these procedures anyone surgeon has performed.Liposuction results are permanent and irreversible. If done poorly results cannot be improved upon it and you will be stuck with those results for the rest of your life.Poorly done liposuction can cause disfigurement that can be permanent. This includes outcomes by board-certified plastic surgeons with years of experience and overall good reputation. All of those variables do not guarantee that someone has mastered any one single procedure.Unfortunately salmon Wellington did well trained plastic surgeons do not View Liposuction is a difficult procedure. The truth is mastering body contouring it with Liposuction is one of the more difficult procedures to master and be as good as some of the best in the country. For those who can deliver consistent quality reproducible results typically have done thousands of cases and are on top of that highly critical of their own resolves with a lifetime of commitment improving their outcome. There are a multitude A reason why liposuction results has such variation in regards to results depending on only who does the procedure. The truth is liposuction results vary more based only on who does the procedure than any other plastic surgery operation.Considering the impact of living with bad Liposuction result in severe enough the patient should take this seriously.Poorly done liposuction results can leave people disfigured and these results are extremely difficult to improve upon.So that reason I suggest patient start with a minimum of five in person consultations and consider having many more unless it’s obvious you found someone who is truly mastered arm Liposuction. What type of equipment used is irrelevant. In the end there are only two variables that determine Liposuction results. They are tendency of the patient combined with skills and experience of the provider. There’s not too much patients can do regarding candidacy and some people are clearly far better candidates for quality results than others. The first step in the process should be understanding your own candidacy so you have a very clear understanding of what can and cannot be accomplished with this operation. The second is to find the best provider they having multiple in person consultations in a way I’ve described above. When in doubt slow down and schedule more consultations.Performance anesthesia is of Moderat important but not as important as understanding your own candidacy and choosing the right provider.Personally I like to do arm liposuction with local anesthesia and mild sedation. I avoid using general anesthesia for any liposuction procedure but that is not to say that it’s wrong to do these procedures with general anesthesia. The correct form of anesthesia is the type of the best surgeon in your community recommends for you. When in doubt slow down and schedule more consultations.Personally I do not believe you can get an accurate assessment or properly vet plastic surgeons without having multiple in person consultations.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD

I would recommend doing minimally invasive skin tightening with radiofrequency like ThermiTight to tighten your skin. You do not appear to have fat that needs to be removed.
