I've always had fat in the FUPA area. As a little kid I was always fat. I lost all the weight in my teens but have fluctuated over the years. In this picture Im at 199lbs but even when I was 180lbs I still had significant fat in this area. Am I a good candidate for this procedure? What procedure is the best option for this? Liposuction, radio frequency, laser lipo, anything else?

Answer: Do I have enough fat Your problem is almost exclusively related to skin laxity and Liposuction will not give you an impressive result. You can probably just lift up aggressively on the skin of your lower abdomen putting the skin in your pubic area under tension and see the improvement that treating the skin laxity will have. Loose skin is often perceived as being fat especially when it’s accumulated in a skin fold like the lower abdomen. I got an assessment on the thickness of your subcutaneous fat you need to first but the skin under tension. When the skin is tight you can gently pension or take one finger and Jeff Lee press until you feel the underlying muscle wall. if you do this with the skin under tension you’ll probably notice the different layers much thinner than you previously thought. With a thin layer of fat and skin laxity still present Liposuction isn’t going to do very much. Exercising the skin laxity is your best option. it does not have to include a tummy tuck but would be the same type of scar. My best guess is plastic surgeons who recommend Liposuction will not be able to show you any quality before and after pictures previous patient what similar body characteristics to your own. Choosing the correct procedure should be based on the first having a clear understanding of what the problem is. Your primary diagnosis or true issue is much more related to skin laxity and skin redundancy then it is excess subcutaneous fat. Expect to get different opinions but keep your expectations really low for Liposuction results. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
