How long after hernia removal surgery do I have to wait before I can have a tummy tuck?

I got a hernia right where my c-section incision is and I want to get a tummy tuck. I had my surgery on July 30th, and they went in where my c-section scar is. I'd like to get one asap while my baby is small, he's 5 and a half months old. Please advise. Thanks.

There should not be any problem performing
a tummy tuck now.  In many occasions the
hernia repair is done at the same time as the abdominoplasty but you need to
ask you surgeon anyway.

I would recommend six weeks of healing before considering a tummy tuck but this is the minimum amount of time.As you are only 5 months from delivering your child, are you back to your pre pregancy weight? Has your healing from the hernia repair been uneventful? Are you back to your full range of activities since your surgery? Have you discussed this with your general surgeon?Seek out a board certified plastic surgeon to evaluate you and help guide you on preparing for the tummy tuck.Good luck and I hope this was helpful.

An inguinal hernia repair is not where I do a tummy tuck so there should be little, if any, interference and you could have it done whenever you wish.

I would consider 6 weeks following your hernia surgery an appropriate time as long as all is well with your hernia surgery and you are cleared by your surgeon. Being also almost 6 months out of delivery Will make you a good candidate. I usually advice my patients to wait at least 6 months after delivery and 6 weeks after the last breast feed before proceeding with their plans for tummy tuck surgery.
